Open burning is any outdoor fire that does not vent to a chimney or stack. Recreational fires, such as small campfires and portable fire pits no larger than two feet high by three feet wide, are allowed by the Ohio EPA. Be sure to use clean, seasoned firewood.
Before you burn, it is recommended that you contact your local fire department to make sure that burning is permitted within your community. Some fire departments require a burn permit; fire departments may issue burn bans if dry or drought conditions exist.
