The Southwest Ohio Air Agency monitors the air quality in Colerain Township in the areas surrounding Rumpke Sanitary Landfill.
Rumpke Sanitary Landfill
Odors from Rumpke Sanitary Landfill may be caused by gas, garbage, or a combination. The Agency, along with Ohio EPA, U.S. EPA, Hamilton County Public Health and Colerain Township are working together to protect human health and prevent odor issues.
The Agency uses various equipment to obtain instantaneous and 24-hour results for several pollutants of concern in Colerain Township. The instantaneous data measurements are taken with portable instruments on a routine basis at a minimum of 18 est points in the community surrounding the landfill. Based on an ongoing review of the air emission data collected to date, there is no immediate short-term or long-term health threat from the contaminants being measured.
